Marion Futbol Club-- Newsletter

Sunday September 9th 2012

U10 Girls-- It was the girls first ever Home game in the PA West league and we were excited for the opportunity. The girls did not disappoint as far as their collective play is concerned. They had several opportunities throughout the game that could have clinched the win, unfortunately the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Coach Raul stated" We did allot of good things today very pleased with the girls performance and I look forward to their potential growth as the season continues".

u10 Boys-- They were on the road for their first game and with only one substitution it wore the boys down by the second half. The ending result was not the result we were looking for but a lot of good things came about from the game. coach Bambo Stated " I commend the boys for pushing through with one sub, they kept the home team at bay all of the first half. They put in great effort but fatigue had them a little down the second half". Result 7-1

u11 Girls-- The teams Debut was a powerful one with a commanding 7-0 win. Coach Raul Stated "It was a fantastic performance the girls were definitely ready to play they strung pass after pass and defended very well. Their communication and spacing with clinical, extremely effective in the final third, a great start to the season".

u12 Girls-- A backyard Brawl having their first game against Neighbor MSSC out of Bridgeport WV. The result was one that favored both, having tied 1-1 after a disallowed goal with a questionable offside call which would have made the score 2-1 in favor of MFC. Coach Tim stated They played their hearts out, never gave up, and left everything on the field. I couldn't be more proud of the girls.

u12 Boys-- An explosive performance for the boys on Sunday with a 4-1 win in the season opener. Coach Raul Stated" It took us a bit to recover from our two early break away opportunities that we unfortunately were not able to take advantage of. We then fell down on the score 1-0 and went to the half with that score. After a firm half time talk and a few adjustments the team showed promise scoring goal after goal in the second half to make the score 4-1.

u14 Girls-- A difficult game and result this weekend for the girls on the road. Facing a team with overall size advantage and speed. Coach Q commented "We did not win any 50/50 balls and that costs us the first half 8-0. The second half we were better winning more 50/50 balls and better movement off of ball which showed in the 0-0 score in the second half. Next game we need to be more aggressive from the start of the game and not wait until we are down on the scoreboard. Result 8-0

Happy Soccer

Coach RAUL
