Governor Justice has released Guidelines for Low Contact Youth Sports with rules for the 6/8 return to play. WVSA has released a 4-Phase Plan for Return to Play with some general guidelines and procedures to be followed by our clubs.
WVSA has created a Return to Play Information Center that contains guidelines, polices, and resources for WVSA clubs, coaches, parents, and players. You can find the resources at: http://www.wvsoccer.net/rtp/ These resources will be updated as needed, so please check back often. WVSA clubs may start using this resource to prepare the club, coaches, parents, and players for the return to play. WVSA will notify all clubs when additional guidance is released.
WVSA clubs must also follow the regulations of your local County Health Department and local government in starting to return to play. WVSA clubs must also follow guidelines established by your local facilities for return to play.
On 4/22/2020, WVSA (West Virginia Soccer Association) informed all of the soccer clubs across WV that their “Start Back" date for the 2020 Spring Season would be moved to May 15th at the earliest. Obviously, this season has been one that is both unique and unprecedented. With that said, our organization has been following both the general council of USYS and WVSA, as well as maintaining a close watch on recommendations and mandates by both local and state leaders. Following the most recent WVSA and USYS announcements the MCSC Board had a discussion and with a heavy heart, the decision was made to cancel the 2020 Spring Season. This was a difficult decision for the board but with the uncertainty of the current COVID-19 situation, we believe that this is best because the safety of the children and their families is most important.
As much as we love the kids and this awesome game, we felt it necessary to delay our resumption of soccer until the “powers that be” advise that it is safe to do so. As soon as life returns to “normal” we will explore opportunities to have some soccer related activities for the kids over the summer. Until then we highly encourage everyone to take advantage of the Virtual Spring Soccer Season that we purchased for all of our members. It is available via the TopYa app. Instructions about TopYa were emailed to each of you a couple of weeks ago. Many of you are already taking advantage of this Virtual Season and the feedback has been great!
Cancellation creates a whole new challenge as to how to get registration fees back in the hands of our families. Ideally and historically, we would use our credit card processing software to provide refunds. Unfortunately, due to the duration of time that has passed since the original transaction, that is not an option available to us. At this time, our only option is to manually process refunds via paper check for each family.
MCSC is offering full refunds for the Spring Registration Fee and Challenger Clinics (if applicable). Here is how the refund process will work:

Thanks and stay safe!!
We hope everyone is keeping their distance and staying safe! We just wanted to give an update in regard to MCSC's current plan. Our Spring 2020 season is still planned to occur. It will just start and end later than is typical. The anticipated date to start back has changed slightly since our initial announcement. The current directive from our member organization has dictated a new return date of 4/30/2020.
Please continue following the recommendations from our leaders. As much as possible, stay home and stay safe! If you have to go out, keep your distance and wash your hands. The more we can follow these guidelines, the sooner we get back to soccer!!
MCSC would like to provide some additional clarity to our action plan regarding COVID19 (Coronavirus). West Virginia Soccer Association, the governing organization of which we are a member, has given its members a directive to postpone all soccer related activities effective immediately. They have also given the directive for us to adhere to local and/or county policies and guidelines. With this in mind, MCSC has decided to align our plan of action with Marion County BOE as it relates to their outdoor sporting practices, games, and events. Earlier today, we were notified that the State Superintendent of Schools has cancelled all extra-curricular activities until 4/10. Therefore, MCSC will be following this plan of action as well. Regrettably, that means all MCSC practices, games, events, and activities will be suspended until 4/10 (all practice must cease effective immediately).
We know this course of action is not ideal for anyone and we know what our league means to its member families. However, we are dealing with adversity, the likes of which we have never seen before. All we can do is make decisions and execute action plans that best serve our entire community by following the lead of our organizing body and local authorities.
At this time, our league's plan is to begin the Challenger Clinics and resume season activities on or after the 4/10 date that was set forth by the WV State BOE. Please note that we may extend our league season, if needed. MCSC will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates to all of our members when available. Feel free to reach out to us if you have questions or need further clarity. The best method of communication is to email us at email@example.com .
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we all deal with this unprecedented and ever changing pandemic!
